About
The Luddite Lab Resource Hub provides resources for unions, labor organizations, and organizers fighting AI and automation at work. We provide strategies for worker-led governance and oversight of new technology through case studies, primers, and a resource library.
This Resource Hub is the result of dozens of conversations with unionists from multiple different industries, such as journalism, entertainment, and nursing, who have been fighting–and winning–against industrial automation and workplace surveillance at work; literature reviews of existing struggles; and our background in the labor movement. This is a publicly accessible resource which not only discusses the harms of particular technologies, but also highlights a range of organizing strategies which workers have used to push back.

Hannah Lipstein
She/Her Research Associate, DAIR Institute
Hannah Lipstein is a Research Associate with the Luddite Lab at DAIR. With 15 years of activist and professional experience in environmental, anti-militarism, and anti-violence movements, she is most interested in how communities can fight back against the interlocking matrices of exploitative technologies, resource extraction, growth at all costs, and the war machine. Previously, Hannah worked in intimate violence prevention and response, specializing in restorative and transformative justice, particularly within LGBTQ+ communities. Over the years, she has worked as a tall ship sailor on environmental education and research vessels; her up-close view into the maritime shipping industry sparked her fixation on the fossil fuel-powered physical infrastructures underpinning the global economy. Hannah recently completed a master’s degree in Media, Technology, and Democracy at American University’s School of Communication, where she wrote her thesis on the failure of emerging federal AI policy to address the environmental implications of AI infrastructures. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in women’s and gender studies from Wellesley College.
